Full Description: This position is located at the Southern Colorado Ute Service Unit. The purpose of this position is responsible for providing direct environmental health services in water quality, waste management, food production, safety management, vector control, etc., for tribes within the Southern Colorado Ute Service Unit. Responsible for ongoing review and evaluation of a limited scope of the environment health services for the Service Unit. Compiles, analyzes, and organizes data into report form for special studies and designated community environmental health profiles for the Service Units. Provides professional consultation and conducts professional environmental health services. Conducts professional environmental health training and presentations on a variety of environmental health topics including occupational safety and health and injury prevention for tribal and IHS audiences. Develops program documents and compiles statistical data for program planning and budgetary purposes.

Full Description: As a Sanitarian in the Albuquerque Area Indian Health Service, located in Mescalero, New Mexico, you will provide direct environmental health management to the program areas as well as administering the Occupational Safety and Health and Hospital Emergency Management programs.
DUTIES:
·Plans, develops, implements, directs and carries out a comprehensive environmental health services program.
·Conducts environmental health surveys of facilities, disease and complaint investigations, disease and injury surveillance, and provides plan review and project/coalition development.
·Develops and implements policies and procedures, performs facility surveys, and performs surveys to identify potential work related hazards for patients, employees and visitors resulting from environmental conditions and/or to control or eliminate unhealthful conditions in accordance with applicable regulations, standards and guidelines.
·Conducts risk analysis surveys and incident investigations to identify and make recommendations for the correction of unsafe conditions for the patients, employees, and visitors, oversees the organization and effectiveness of the Mescalero Indian Hospital's EOC/Safety Committee.
·Conducts professional EH training and presentations on general occupational safety and health and injury prevention for tribal and IHS customers.
Mescalero, NM is included in the PHS "Approved Duty Sites for the ISOHAR Award".
